Archies Slap 6-3 Loss on East Haddam
|
The St. Louis Archies polished off the East Haddam Hyenas by the score of 6-3. The largest share of the credit belonged to third baseman Jim Stanton. Stanton went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Archies. Shuhei Ouchi was the winner. He's now 13-11. The loser was 25-year old left-handed pitcher Efrain Sanchez. The first-place Archies have won 6 in a row.
Stanton contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for St. Louis in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Stanton took a cutter from Efrain Sanchez and stroked the home run to center. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Archies to leap in front, 3-1.
"It was a solid team effort," said Stanton after the game.
