Kyiv and Arizona duked it out and the Cossacks came out victorious.

The inspired effort of Arizona first baseman Won-shik Im was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-7, to the Kyiv Cossacks. Im was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Kyiv is now 70-75. Arizona is 83-61.

Rod Garcia came through with a big-time hit for Kyiv. The left fielder smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 9-7. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Garcia said in reaction to the win.
