Aces Squelch Kings Offense in Shutout Win
|
Steve Thomas pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Los Angeles Kings, despite Thomas's fine outing, dropped a 3-0 decision to the Omaha Aces at Aces Ballpark. The winner in relief was Fred Gibson. He is now 3-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Omaha has a record of 70-74, placing them third in the Alliance League Dimwits Division.
The Aces got an important contribution from first baseman Dan Raduenz, who in the bottom of the third hit a 2-0 knuckle curve into left for a 2-run home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put the Aces ahead, 2-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Omaha manager Evan Brown.
