Sugar Kings Fall Short, 3-2, at San Antonio
|
San Antonio right-hander John Griese pitched his team to victory over the Havana Sugar Kings at Estadio Azteca. The final score was 3-2. Griese, now 11-13, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Art Madsen earned his 38th save in 41 chances.
Josh George had a big run-scoring double for the Aztecs in the bottom of the third inning. With San Antonio leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from John Hoover, who is tied for 3rd in the AL with a 3.18 ERA, and swatted a double to center. It was his 33rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aztecs ahead, 3-0.
"We took home the win," said George. "What's not to like?"
The Aztecs now own a record of 67-77.
