Detroit Beats Los Angeles, 5-3
|
The Detroit Pizzas topped the Los Angeles Kings, 5-3, in Alliance League action at Pizzas Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Miyakonojo, Japan, native Chikara Nakamoto. Detroit pitcher David Malloy got the win. He's now 6-4. Toby Guinn was tagged with the loss. Josh Johnson earned his 35th save in 41 tries.
Caleb Schwin, who is rated as the 69th best prospect by BNN, chipped in a 2-run single for Detroit in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Schwin. "You've got to get results."
With the win, Detroit raised its record to 79-64.
