Porters Nipped by Cossacks, 8-7
|
The 8-7 Kyiv win over Dublin was due largely to Noah Abitia. The Cossacks second baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Picking up the save was Ricardo Moreno. He's now 18 for 19 in save chances. Kyiv, now 63-78, holds down last place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
Mike Bitzer cracked a home run off Brad Griffitts in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run blast put the Cossacks on top, 8-7. In all, Bitzer had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
