Kings Score Late, Top Empire, 6-4
|
New York got a valiant performance from pitcher Darren Manos, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Kings. Los Angeles won the game, 6-4. Manos threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Michael Estes came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. Thomas Lloyd earned the save, his 21st in 26 tries.
Los Angeles used a clutch hit from Tom Salinas to get the win. The left fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Kings ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Salinas. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
With this game in the books, Los Angeles is 69-73, New York 56-87.
