The Detroit Pizzas defeated the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 6-5, at Pizzas Ballpark. Nick Olveda, who finished 5th in the AL in doubles with 49 in 2044, was a standout performer for Detroit. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 2 he knocked in. Detroit reliever Dave Reed was the winner. His record is now 5-0. Siu-chung Chieu took the loss. Picking up the save was George Liston. He's now 2 for 3 in save chances.

Olveda had an important at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the sixth, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Pizzas went on to win.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.

The Pizzas, at 78-62, have now won 4 straight.
