Lamons Stars as Beavers Top Desert Storm, 7-3
|
Led by Matt Lamons, the Portland Beavers defeated the Arizona Desert Storm, 7-3. Lamons went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for the Beavers. Ray Barber got the win, improving to 11-13. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Alex Bacio earned the save for Portland, his 3rd.
With Portland leading 4-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Lamons hit a 2-run single off Arizona hurler Greg McDowell. It was the 120th hit of the season for Lamons and put his team ahead, 6-3.
Lamons said his team "played with focus."
The win for the Beavers lifted their record to 74-65.
