Pizzas Rally to Win, 6-5
|
At Sportsman's Park, the Detroit Pizzas edged the Los Angeles Kings, 6-5, in 10 innings. Detroit first baseman Rich Ostapowicz, who jolted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Ken Standifer, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Detroit is now 71-66, while Los Angeles is 64-73.
Dylan Lucas was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Detroit. With one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Lucas, who is tied for 4th in the AL in triples with 4, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Los Angeles hurler Eric Barone, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Pizzas a 6-5 lead.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Lucas told the Detroit Times.
