Spencer Helps Desert Storm Beat Beavers, 7-5
Kevin Spencer, who finished 4th in the FL in ERA with 3.07 last year, was locked in. The left-hander led the Arizona Desert Storm to a 7-5 win against the Portland Beavers at Beavers Park. Chris Odeneal, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-11. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Arizona has now won 4 games in a row.

Spencer had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth to put Arizona in front, 7-5. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Portland pitcher Jerry Matthews.
