Knights Win Nail-Biter
|
The Brooklyn Knights had to overcome a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Kyle Sanchez to win, 4-3, in 13 innings at Team2 Ballpark. Sanchez went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Tanner Denny, now 9-3, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Zion Anthony wrapped it up, recording his 21st save.
Brooklyn used a clutch hit from John Espinosa to get the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Knights ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Espinosa.
The Knights lead the Alliance League Boneheads Division by 11½ games.
