Yellowstone Upended, 2-1, by East Haddam
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the East Haddam Hyenas and the Yellowstone Super Volcano, 25-year old left-handed pitcher Efrain Sanchez was the difference-maker. The East Haddam left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Sanchez got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. Justin Kennedy collected save number 1.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Hyenas had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when second baseman Adam Haglund hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Carlos Castaneda and made the score 2-1, Hyenas. Haglund was 1-2 with a walk.
"What can you say about Efrain?" said East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski. "He was pretty incredible."
The victory puts East Haddam at 54-81.
