Sugar Kings Get Past Detroit for 5-4 Win
|
Fans watched the Havana Sugar Kings and the Detroit Pizzas fight to the finish.
Though he had a terrific game, Jay Naylor could not prevent his team, the Detroit Pizzas, from absorbing a loss. Havana won the game, 5-4. Naylor went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Eric Hunt. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Kurat Feyzioglu recorded the save, making him 32 for 35.
Tony Anaya, who is tied for 8th in the AL in bases on balls with 57, helped out the Havana cause in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Anaya said.
The win gives Havana a season record of 75-62.
