Knights Send Kyiv Home with 10-4 Loss
|
The Brooklyn Knights beat the Kyiv Cossacks by a score of 10-4. Brooklyn left fielder Kenichi Kanzaki deserved the lion's share of the credit. Kanzaki went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Knights. Ray Totino got the win, improving to 14-11. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. John MacMullen was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities.
Grant Ferguson had a big bases-clearing double for the Knights in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Brooklyn trailing 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Juan Valer, who signed a 3-year contract worth $13,920,000 on 01/17/2050, and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 6-4.
"Enjoyed this one," Ferguson told the Brooklyn Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
With the win, the Knights have a record of 78-58.
