Portland pitcher Sam Davis had a large part in his team beating the Dublin Porters, 4-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Davis, now 4-6. He tossed 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Andy Buhrke earned his 30th save in 33 tries.

Mike Webster had a big run-scoring double for the Beavers in the bottom of the second inning. With Portland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Ben Verville, who is tied for 8th in the FL with a 3.70 ERA, and swatted a double to left. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Beavers ahead, 2-0.

"Sam attacked hitters and trusted his stuff," said Portland manager GM admiralballtr8s.

The triumph puts Portland at 71-64 for the season.
