The home crowd had a good time watching the Hanoi Dragon Warriors and Portland Beavers get after it.
The Portland Beavers topped the Hanoi Dragon Warriors, 9-6, in Alliance League action at Beavers Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Portland pinch hitter Marco Estrada. Reliever Ray Barber picked up the win. His record improves to 11-11. Chris Gills, who finished 2nd in the FL in saves with 37 in 2047, took the loss.
With the game in the balance, help came for the Beavers from the most obvious of places: Their star pinch hitter Estrada, the three-time All-Star . With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Estrada delivered a grand slam home run, making the score 9-5, Portland. It was the 22nd home run of the season for Estrada.
Estrada said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
Portland is 60-75 and Hanoi, with the loss, 66-69.
