Portland first baseman Danny Gutierrez contributed significantly to his team's 5-3 win over the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs. Gutierrez, who finished 5th in the AL in doubles with 44 in 2046, went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Beavers. Andy Buhrke got the save, his 30th in 34 chances. The Alliance League Dimwits Division-leading Beavers have a record of 68-64.

With Portland leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Gutierrez hit a fastball from Rourke Ireland for a 2-run home run. It was his 16th home run of the season and put the Beavers ahead, 4-0.

Gutierrez called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
