Chavez belts 2 home runs in Cossacks Win
The Kyiv Cossacks picked up a win, 7-4, over the Detroit Pizzas at Kyiv Grounds. Lorenzo Chavez led the charge. The Caracas, Distrito Capital native hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Kyiv. The win belonged to Oscar Aguilar in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Nate Spinks took the loss for Detroit. Kyiv currently is in third place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division at 63-70.

Kyiv shortstop Steve Buffington said he was just trying to make contact when he came to bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the sixth. He did more than that -- Buffington hit a solo home run to stake Kyiv to a 5-4 lead. His 15th home run of the season came off Detroit pitcher Nate Spinks.

"Just trying to keep things simple and helping the team win any way I can," Chavez told a local reporter after the game.
