Porters Topple Beavers, 6-4, as Stephens Shines
|
The Dublin Porters trumped the Portland Beavers, 6-4, at Porters Ballpark. Dublin center fielder Kasey Stephens was terrific. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Karl Gordam was the winner. Over 8 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts. Wayne Murphy earned his 7th save in 7 chances.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Stephens delivered big-time for Dublin, stroking a dramatic 2-run single off Chris Hakes. The game-changing hit put the Porters on top, 6-4.
"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Stephens.
After today's action, Dublin sits at 72-60, while Portland falls to 67-64.
