Lucot Helps Cossacks Beat Desert Storm, 9-7
The Kyiv Cossacks grabbed a win, 9-7, over the Arizona Desert Storm at Desert Storm Stadium. Kyiv right fielder Sam Lucot went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Kyiv pitcher Juan Valer earned the win, hiking his record to 10-5. Kevin Spencer suffered the loss. Matt Schwager converted his 2nd save in 6 tries.

Early in the game, Lucot had a bases-clearing double for Kyiv. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Cossacks on top, 3-0.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Lucot.

The Cossacks lead the Federation League Knuckleheads Division by 10½ games.
