Kyiv Cossacks starter Zachery DeShields pitched a strong game against the Lansing Red Storm at Ballpark of Atlanta, leading the Cossacks to victory, 5-2. DeShields picked up the win for Kyiv, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 12-10. Picking up his 22nd save was 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Gold.
Mike Bitzer had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the fourth for Kyiv. With the bases loaded and the Cossacks leading 3-1, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Bitzer said.
With the victory, the Cossacks record stands at 61-70.
