Beavers Get Past Detroit, 5-4
|
Portland starter Jason Scothorn pitched well against the Detroit Pizzas at Pizzas Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4, in 10 innings. Andy Buhrke earned the save, his 29th in 33 tries. Portland is now 67-61, Detroit 72-57.
Portland used the clutch hitting of Marco Estrada to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"Jason -- I just love the competitor in him," said Beavers manager GM admiralballtr8s.
