San Antonio Wins, Jaquez hits 2 home runs
|
Andres Jaquez was instrumental in his team's 5-3 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings. The shortstop was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the San Antonio Aztecs. John Griese, who finished 5th in the AL in wins with 15 in 2046, was the winner. He's now 10-11. The loser was Jeremy Valentine. Art Madsen earned the save for San Antonio, his 33rd of the year.
In the first inning, Jaquez had a 2-run home run for San Antonio. It was his 18th home run of the season and put the Aztecs on top, 2-0.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Jaquez told the San Antonio Citizen. "And padding the San Antonio win column."
San Antonio is third in the Alliance League Dimwits Division with a record of 62-67.
