Cossacks Come Up Short at East Haddam, 2-1
|
The East Haddam Hyenas locked up a win at Ballpark of East Haddam, knocking off the Kyiv Cossacks, 2-1. On the mound for East Haddam was right-hander Justin Madsen. He played a major role in the triumph. Madsen, the winner, moves to 11-9. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 12 and giving up 4 walks. Jason Derrick was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 36 save opportunities.
The Hyenas got a big at-bat from third baseman Jerrod Conners. For the game, Conners went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 23rd home run of the season gave East Haddam a 1-0 lead.
