Desert Storm Walk It Off for 63rd Win of Season
Kyiv got a terrific game from left fielder Rod Garcia. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Arizona, 8-7. Garcia went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Arizona, at 63-62, occupies second place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.

The game came to a dramatic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Arizona trailing 7-6, Joe Gainey hit a slider from Cheong-won Hwang for a 2-run home run. It was the knockout punch the Desert Storm needed.

In comments to the Arizona Herald, Gainey admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
