The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs got a sterling performance from first baseman Josh Deere, but the Kyiv Cossacks still prevailed, 5-4. Deere was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Cossacks now have a record of 59-64.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Bitzer? The 11-year veteran Bitzer stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Kyiv up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
