The 10-7 Kyiv win over Portland was due in large part to Andy Lester. The Cossacks left fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win went to Julio Salaiz in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Vendelin Sivak took the loss. Earning his 8th save for Kyiv was Cheong-won Hwang.

Kyiv used the timely hitting of Chris Nicotra to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cossacks ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"That's a solid team effort right there," said Nicotra. "Everyone's feeling positive after that win."

The Cossacks bumped their record to 30-23 with this win.
