Martin Cracks 5 Hits
|
Matthew Martin of the Gumdrops was unstoppable in his team's 13-11 victory over the Colorado Springs Generals at Ballpark of Colorado Springs. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Galveston catcher after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."
Matthew Martin singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off William Perez in the 4th, walked in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Martin is batting .467 this year with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has 14 hits in 30 at-bats.
