Cossacks 4-3 Victors Over Portland
|
The Kyiv Cossacks did just enough to sneak past the Portland Beavers, 4-3, at Beavers Park. Kyiv pitcher Mark Powers, in particular, had a standout performance. Kyiv reliever Jimmy Gold snagged the win, upping his record to 4-1. Tony Orellana shouldered the loss. With the victory, the Cossacks upped their record to 29-23.
Jeremy Gillespie came through with a big-time hit for Kyiv. The third baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Portland manager GM bigbluex02. "The effort was great."
