Great Stroke: Hilbert Gets 5 Hits
|
Kinsale right fielder Gary Hilbert had a big day at Elderhorns Ballpark against the Estes Park Elderhorns. The 23-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 9-0 Fisherman triumph over Estes Park.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Hilbert said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Gary Hilbert singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Posting a .309 batting average to date, Hilbert has 16 home runs and 39 RBIs.
