With designated hitter Jeremy Plummer leading the charge, the East Haddam Hyenas defeated the Osaka Takoyaki, 4-2, at Takoyaki Park. Plummer, who is tied for 10th in the FL in triples with 1, went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. East Haddam starter Justin Kennedy was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. John Motz earned the save for East Haddam, his 8th.
East Haddam used the timely hitting of Jerrod Conners to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hyenas on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Plummer. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
East Haddam is now 23-28. Osaka is 21-30.
