Brooklyn right-hander Edgar Hernandez pitched his team to victory over the Portland Beavers at Brooklyn Coliseum. The final score was 4-2. Hernandez, the winner, moves to 3-0. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. John MacMullen earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
Esteban Gonzalez had a big 2-run double for the Knights in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Brooklyn leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Jason Scothorn, who is a three-time All-Star, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knights ahead, 3-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager GM bigbluex02.
The Knights improved their record to 22-29 by beating Portland.
