The Kyiv Cossacks got a superb performance from pitcher Tom Call, but the East Haddam Hyenas still won the game, 3-2. Call threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Amari Smith, 7-7, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The win has East Haddam at 49-73.
Dave Bland, who is tied for 10th in the FL with a .923 OPS, came through for East Haddam with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. The right fielder went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 2 runs batted in.
"We busted our tails," said Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin. "But we came up short."
