Detroit turned a good performance from starting pitcher Nate Edmondson into a 5-1 triumph over the Buffalo Buffalo at Pizzas Ballpark. Detroit leads the Alliance League Boneheads Division by 6½ games.

Rich Ostapowicz had a big 2-run home run for the Pizzas in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Detroit leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Sam Gleghorn, who led the AL in on-base percentage with .394 last year, and swatted a home run to right. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pizzas ahead, 4-1.

"Winning never gets dull," said Ostapowicz.
