Desert Storm Win by Slim Margin, 3-2
|
The Arizona Desert Storm had to weather a strong performance from Lansing pitcher Richard Arocha before claiming a 3-2 win in 13 innings. Arocha went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Arizona reliever Jason Walker picked up the win. Kane Tulk took the loss for Lansing. With the victory, the Desert Storm record stands at 66-55.
Arizona needed the clutch hitting of Joe Gainey to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a solo home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Desert Storm on top, 3-2. For the game, Gainey had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
In comments to the Arizona Observer, Gainey insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
