The Kyiv Cossacks beat the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs, 18-3, at Kyiv Grounds. Kyiv third baseman Jeremy Gillespie had an outstanding performance. He went 4-5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6. Bob Rendahl closed out the game, earning his 1st save. The win puts Kyiv at 28-19 this season.

Sam Lucot had a big 2-run double for the Cossacks in the bottom of the third inning. With Kyiv leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Spero and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cossacks ahead, 5-2.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Lucot said. "We did a good job of that today."
