Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the East Haddam Hyenas and Brooklyn Knights.
Jason Widel was a major contributor to the 8-3 East Haddam win over Brooklyn. The Hyenas left fielder belted 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. Izzy Marquez got credit for the win, improving to 8-13. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 6.2 innings. Chris Newell converted his 1st save in 1 tries.
East Haddam took control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Miguel Sanchez hit a run-scoring single to make it 4-3, Hyenas.
"The vibe's good," said East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski. "We've got to keep it going."
The last-place Hyenas have won 4 consecutive games.
