Takoyaki Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Clark
The Havana Sugar Kings withstood an impressive performance by Osaka left fielder Sam Clark to defeat the Takoyaki, 7-5, at Takoyaki Park. Clark was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Justin Schwartz earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. The last-place Sugar Kings improved to 52-64.

Mike Hieronymus went 1 for 5 for Havana. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Hieronymus, who is tied for 5th in the AL in stolen bases with 28, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Osaka hurler Dave Sartuche, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Sugar Kings a 5-4 lead.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hieronymus told a Havana News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
