Portland starter Jason Scothorn put the St. Louis offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his slider in leading the Beavers to a 4-1 win. Scothorn yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-2. Portland, at 26-20, is 3 games up in the Alliance League Dimwits Division.

Portland used a clutch hit from Ethan Breaux to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Breaux told the Portland Citizen.
