Detroit Tacks 7-6 Loss on Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Knights could not turn a fine performance from left fielder Tyler Almond into a win. Instead, the Detroit Pizzas prevailed, 7-6. Almond went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Michael Barrett. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The win boosted Detroit to 28-18.
Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Karl Gervais to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pizzas ahead, 7-6. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
