Hyenas Earn 2-0 Home Win
|
In a tight game between the East Haddam Hyenas and the Waikiki Wayfinders, pitcher Justin Madsen was terrific on the mound. The East Haddam right-hander helped his team to the 2-0 win. Madsen picked up the win for East Haddam, going 7.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 5-4. Amari Smith wrapped it up, recording his 4th save.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and Waikiki trailing 2-0, Amari Smith needed to get a big out. On a 2-2 fastball, Kevin Byrge, who is tied for 9th in the FL in triples with 1, struck out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
The loss makes Waikiki 18-27.
