Hilbert Powers Porters to 7-4 Win
|
The Dublin Porters beat the Osaka Takoyaki by a score of 7-4. Dublin right fielder Gary Hilbert deserved the lion's share of the credit. Hilbert went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Porters. Ben Verville, the winner, goes to 5-3. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts over 7 innings. Today's win puts Dublin at 26-19, while Osaka falls to 18-27.
The Porters got a big at-bat from second baseman Ben Crepps. For the game, Crepps was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Dublin a 6-4 lead.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Crepps told the Dublin Bulletin.
