Kings Edge Past Knights, 6-5
|
The Brooklyn Knights could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Luis Lezama into a win. Instead, the Los Angeles Kings prevailed, 6-5, in 11 innings. Lezama threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Los Angeles reliever Eric Barone snagged the win, upping his record to 4-2. Tanner Denny shouldered the loss. The victory gives Los Angeles a record of 23-22.
The Kings got a clutch hit from second baseman Eric Heckman. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Kings.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Los Angeles manager Jim KP.
