Hit Parade: Hidalgo Pops 6 Hits
|
Pueto Rico Ranas second baseman Carlos Hidalgo had a day to remember at Ranas Ballpark, ripping apart the Euharlee Hammerheads and sparking the 33-7 Ranas win.
Hidalgo wrote his name in the record books with a 6-hit barrage, finishing his special day 6-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Hidalgo told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Carlos Hidalgo singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
This season, Hidalgo has hit at a .309 clip and produced 22 RBI, 3 home runs and 40 runs.
