Gonzalez Hits 2 home runs in Knights Win
Behind a fine performance from Esteban Gonzalez, the Brooklyn Knights knocked off the Detroit Pizzas, 8-1. Gonzalez went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice for the Knights. The winning pitcher was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Alex Smith. He tossed 89 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. By defeating Detroit, the last-place Knights improved to 18-26.

With Brooklyn leading 4-1 in the top of the eighth, Gonzalez came up to bat against Detroit pitcher Bill Arellano. Gonzalez hit a fastball to right-center for a grand slam home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Knights on top, 8-1.

"They just got us," said Detroit manager Evan Compton, "and that's all I can say."
