Cabrera Slugs Blueberry Bulldogs to 6-3 Win
|
Sudbury and Kyiv duked it out and the Blueberry Bulldogs came out victorious.
The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs beat the Kyiv Cossacks, 6-3, at Kyiv Grounds. Hugo Cabrera, in particular, was impressive. He was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. George Wilson earned the win, while 24-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Namie took the loss for Kyiv.
Cabrera had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-0 changeup from Matt Namie, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Blueberry Bulldogs a 5-3 lead. It was the 13th home run of the year for Cabrera.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Cabrera told the Sudbury Times.
The win for the Blueberry Bulldogs lifted their record to 26-18.
