The Los Angeles Kings had to overcome a good performance from Portland pitcher Steve Thomas to claim a 3-2 win at Beavers Park. Thomas went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Jim Davis earned his 12th save, after closing out the game. The Kings bumped their record to 22-20 with this latest triumph.

Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Alex Cadena to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kings on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Jim KP.
