Knights Handed 7-4 Loss by Havana
|
The Havana Sugar Kings overcame a pretty good performance by Brooklyn designated hitter Silvio Veldhoven, beating the Knights, 7-4, at Sugardome II. Veldhoven slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Luis Lezama. He tossed 105 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The save was credited to Kurat Feyzioglu, his 12th.
Had Tony Anaya not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Anaya hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Sugar Kings.
