Campos Smacks 5 Hits for Hooks
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Bill Campos, it came around today.
The 19-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Hooks Ballpark to pace the 4-2 Oklahoma City Hooks victory over the Colorado Springs Generals.
Colorado Springs skipper Mike Miller told reporters in the press room that "Campos deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Campos hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Bill Campos singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and hit a two-run home run off Emmanuel Ambrosio in the 14th.
For the season, Campos is batting .297 with 27 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 8 times and batted in 7.
