St. Louis Sent Home with 6-5 Loss
|
The Arizona Desert Storm defeated the St. Louis Archies, 6-5. Left Fielder Eddie Garcia deserved a large share of the credit. Garcia was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Desert Storm. Josh Kern was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Terry Donohue closed it out for Arizona, earning his 9th save.
With Arizona leading 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Garcia hit a run-scoring single off St. Louis hurler Alex Garcia. It was the 50th hit of the season for Garcia and put his team ahead, 6-4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Arizona manager GM Fetty.
The win puts Arizona at 24-16 this season.
